We all have those days where the universe aligns to challenge us (parking, heavily booked with clients, phone full of missed calls and new sms, trainer stuck in traffic for your session…) so we may grow in realisation of who we are and what it is we are living for at this point in our journey! I experienced this on back to work “Monday” as a double dose…
I made the decision to confirm my Functional Training session via sms, keep to my schedule and grow in my resolve to train me emotionally to live this new “Power Foods Diet” lifestyle as this is the beginning of the third phase: Week 1/4 – LEAN MUSCLE GROWTH! To inspire yourself you need to be the example you want to follow in another and this will in turn inspire others to want to create this in their lives. It helped so much that the above Stephen Covey quote leapt off my Facebook screen as a signpost!
My workout did go beyond the sms screen and challenged me mentally to switch off from the day and physically concentrate on me and my ultimate – athlete level – training/performance goal that I have set in my heart and mind for this time next year.
Functional Training Session was as follows:
Row (level 3) x 12 and Push-ups on knees with wide arms x 12 x 3 sets
Back Squat 30kg barbell x 12 and Walking Lunges x 24 x 4 sets
Ab Curls x 12, Reverse Curls x 12, Abs Legs Long x 12 x 4 sets
Shot of coffee for me now and sprints x 6 on my killer of a hill outside my home… Then my luscious breakfast.
