OVEN ROASTED ALMONDS – Choose your flavour intensity, roast & serve!

roasted almonds

This “Power Foods Fitness” recipe is a variation of a Lebanese oven roasted nut recipe handed down to me from a gorgeous friend years ago. I always make this in bulk for the festive season to have as a treat in my home and take with me to the gatherings as a gift – much healthier than chocolates and lollies. Also being quick to prepare and nutritious you can make this anytime to serve as a snack for yourself as well as to entertain guests! Even place some in a jar to have on your commute to and from work.

Almonds are a “super food” – being an ultra nutritious nut,  high in antioxidants and full of beneficial fats that raise good cholesterol and lower bad cholesterol.  Further, studies have shown that almonds curb hunger.

What I love about my version is you choose the intensity of the flavour based on the variations of flavour of “Paprika” – one of my favourite all-rounder spices. In addition Oven Roasted Almonds can add real crunch and flavour to your favourite recipes.

3 1/2 C Raw Almonds (500 g)
1 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil (15 ml)
2 tsp Coarse Sea Salt (10 ml) or 2 tsp Flake Sea Salt (10 ml)

1 1/2 tspn Smoked Mild Paprika

or 1 1/2 tspn Smoked Hot Paprika

or 1 1/2 tspn Sweet Paprika

or 1 1/2 tspn Hot Paprika

or 1 1/2 tspn Ground Cumin

or 1 1/2 tspn Curry Powder

or 1 1/2 tspn Cinnamon

1. Preheat oven to 325°F.
2. Toss all ingredients together in a large bowl.
3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
4. Roast almond mixture until lightly toasted and skins are just beginning to split (about 20 minutes).
5. Let cool.

Enjoy this comfort snack anytime! xx
